Ayamonte has been chosen by internet users as the place with the most beautiful Holy Week in Spain in 2024.

The beautiful city has won this year’s title with 25% of the votes, an impressive percentage if we take into account that there were 26 other candidates, a title that last year 2023 was won by the Holy Week of Zamora. Ayamonte has competed in this vote against big cities such as the Andalusian cities of Seville, Cordoba and Granada, as well as Totana and Toledo, among many others.

Ayamonte is known for being one of the most beautiful towns in the province, and for hosting a unique Holy Week full of symbolic brotherhoods that walk the streets of the town with rhythm and a lot of art. Every day of the most fraternal week is lived intensely by the Ayamontes, but also by hundreds of visitors who come to enjoy it, including many foreigners who come from Portugal.

It is also known for being the only place that carries two Holy Burials: the Brotherhood of the Descent from the Cross, Holy Burial and Our Lady of the Greatest Pain of Ayamonte, which leaves from the Church of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, and the Very Ancient, Royal and Illustrious Franciscan Brotherhood of Penitence of the Vera Cruz, Holy Burial of Christ and Mary Most Holy in her Solitude, which leaves from the Church of San Francisco.

It is also highly acclaimed for having one of the most charming dawn processions: Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno y María Santísima del Socorro, which leaves from the Barrio de la Villa de Ayamonte, surrounded by hundreds of people who always go to watch this beautiful procession leave in silence.
