Euribor: how it evolves and forecasts for 2024.

After the sharp rises and falls experienced by the Euribor in recent times, experts anticipate a few months of stability until the ECB starts to lower rates. The reference indicator for variable mortgages in Spain is around 3.7% and forecasts suggest that it will remain above 3% throughout the year, while banks will continue to improve their fixed-rate mortgage offers.

The Euribor will fall this year, but more moderately than expected. This is the main conclusion we can draw from the latest forecasts published by research services and analysts on how the reference indicator for most variable mortgages in Spain will behave in the coming months.

According to the BBVA research service, the consensus compiled by the Funcas panel, the payments fintech Ebury and Bankinter analysts, the 12-month Euribor will remain stable in the short term and will start a downward trend when the European Central Bank (ECB) starts to cut interest rates in the euro area. However, the fall in the Euribor for the remainder of 2024 is expected to be around half a percentage point.
