Marbella will authorise San Juan bonfires on six beaches of the municipality

The Marbella Town Hall has published a municipal notice on the occasion of the Night of San Juan to establish a series of mandatory rules and which also includes the authorisation on a total of six beaches where controlled bonfires may be held. Chiringuitos (beach bars) will also be allowed to make bonfires in the surrounding areas.

In a press release, the Town Hall informed the public on Friday of the regulations for the night of San Juan.

Fires may exceptionally be lit on the beaches of San Pedro Alcántara, Nueva Andalucía (next to the moragas area), El Cable, El Pinillo, Alicate and Real de Zaragoza.

Only wood will be allowed as fuel, and the burning of plastics, glass and other materials that could cause danger or degrade the sand is prohibited.

Likewise, a safety distance of at least eight metres must be maintained from the different facilities, equipment and uses of the beaches and the throwing of incandescent lanterns is prohibited.

For this occasion, the beach bars will also be allowed to build a controlled bonfire in the beach area next to their facilities, with the concessionaires responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the bonfire and for ensuring that it is extinguished before 04.00 hours.

In order to obtain authorisation, establishments must notify the Beaches Department before 16 June.

The cleaning service will start work at 04.00 hours, so the Town Hall is asking for the cooperation of the public to ensure the proper development of the actions.

On the beaches where bonfires will be allowed to be lit, the public toilets located on the sand and on the Paseo Marítimo will be kept open all night, with additional cleaning staff available for these facilities.
