Taxi ride for the elderly in Marbella to see the Christmas lights.

Around 180 elderly people will enjoy next Tuesday, 20th December, the V Paseo de la Ilusión ‘Taxi Luz’, an initiative that the Town Hall and the taxi sector are taking up again after two years of pandemic, in collaboration with the associations Marbella Voluntaria and Aguja Solidaria and with Alabardero Beach Club, of the Lezama Group.

The day, which will begin at around 16.30 hours and will last until after 20.00 hours, will begin with a snack at the aforementioned establishment and then around fifty vehicles will take users of residences, the Faro programme and the Active Participation centres of the town to see the Christmas lighting of the municipality.

The Deputy Mayor of Sampedra, Javier García, pointed out that “this is a very commendable activity, which will bring joy to our elderly”.

The mayor thanked the taxi sector, as well as the delegations and entities involved for their “work to make it a perfect day and enjoy a special day”.

For her part, the municipal delegate for Social Rights, Isabel Cintado, said that the protagonists “are an essential part of our society and with this initiative we want to give them back a little bit of everything they give us”.

On the other hand, the Councillor for Transport, Enrique Rodríguez, pointed out that “the taxi sector in Marbella is supportive and for the Town Hall it is a pleasure to see how our elderly people will enjoy themselves”.

In this sense, Javier Ruiz, representative of Taxi Solidario, detailed that the route of the Christmas lighting will start in San Pedro Alcántara, continue through Puerto Banús and end in Marbella.

The president of Marbella Voluntaria, Meli Bertomeu, also highlighted the initiative as “a great gesture of solidarity”.
